Reference ASINs Table

The Reference ASINs table displays data for the three competitor products you selected. Use these as reference points during early product development:

  • Market pricing — Current competitor prices

Calculator Sections

The calculator has seven sections that work together to determine your total cost of goods and net profit:

SectionWhat It Calculates
Selling PriceThe amount you'll charge customers on Amazon. This drives all downstream calculations.
Cost of GoodsYour manufacturing and sourcing costs. Estimate at ~30% of selling price if no supplier quote.
PPC Per SaleAdvertising spend per sale. Uses Average CPC ÷ Conversion Rate, or choose "10 Clicks" or custom.
Amazon Referral FeeCommission Amazon charges per sale (8-15% depending on category).
FBA Fulfillment FeeAmazon's cost to store, pick, pack, and ship. Depends on dimensions and weight.
Amazon Storage FeesMonthly fees based on inventory volume. Higher during peak season (Oct-Dec).
Shipping InformationProduct dimensions and customs costs that affect fulfillment and storage fees.

Differentiation Tab

Discover product improvements that increase perceived value without dramatically raising costs.

AI Recommendations

Click "AI Recommendations" and Launch Fast analyzes your reference ASINs to identify opportunities where you can improve:

  • Features — Product functionality enhancements
  • Materials — Higher-quality or more sustainable materials

Best Practices

Choose Relevant Competitors

Select reference ASINs that match your target price point and quality tier. Benchmarking against mismatched competitors will skew your margin expectations.

Update After Sourcing

Return to your project once you have actual supplier quotes and exact dimensions. Real numbers replace estimates for accurate margin calculations.

!
Model Multiple Scenarios

Create separate projects for different price points, suppliers, or product variations. Comparing scenarios side by side reveals the most profitable path.

!
Don't Skip Dimensions

Enter product dimensions even if estimated. Zero values significantly underestimate FBA fees and storage costs, leading to inflated margin projections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about calculating margins, estimating costs, and validating product profitability.
How accurate are the profit calculations?Profit calculations are as accurate as the inputs you provide. Launch Fast uses Amazon's official fee structure and real marketplace data from your reference ASINs. Final accuracy depends on having correct values for Cost of Goods, dimensions, weight, and PPC estimates.
What if I don't have exact dimensions yet?Estimate dimensions based on similar products or your reference ASINs. Enter your best guess to get directional accuracy on fees, then update the project once you have exact specifications from your supplier. Even rough dimensions are better than leaving fields at zero.
How should I estimate Cost of Goods without a supplier quote?Estimate COG at approximately 30% of your selling price as a starting point. For example, if you plan to sell at $50, estimate COG at $15. Once you receive actual quotes through Supplier Research, update the COG field with real numbers.
Can I compare multiple products in one project? Each project focuses on one product scenario with three reference ASINs for competitive context. To compare multiple product ideas, create separate projects for each. You can easily switch between saved projects from the main Profit Calculator page.
What does 'Calculated' mean for PPC Per Sale? The "Calculated" option uses real keyword data aggregated from your reference ASINs. It divides average cost-per-click by average conversion rate across the market to estimate ad spend per sale. If you have your own PPC data, switch to "10 Clicks" or enter a custom value.
